The peninsula boasts 28 miles of continuous, fine, sandy ocean beach! The Discovery Trail runs parallel to the beach for an easier walk or bike ride. At the south end of the peninsula is Cape Disappointment State Park, which offers a gentle hike to a lighthouse with some spectacular views. Cape Disappointment is also part of the Lewis and Clark network of state parks. There is a wildlife refuge at the north end of the peninsula, where it is common to see bald eagles, great blue herons, spawning salmon, and black bears.
